Have you been frustrated trying to grow annual celery?  Us too!  'White Queen' Celery Leaf may be just the celery you've been looking for.  This easy-to-grow celery is a cutting celery.  It means that you harvest the leaves and thin hollow stems and use them as you would traditional celery.  It's more flavorful than annual celery and is cut and come again, giving you many harvests throughout the season. 'White Queen' Celery Leaf (Apium graveolens var. secalinum)

We also offer a larger version of Perma Celery called Lovage.

Why We Love It

Here are some of the reasons why we love Celery Leaf...

1) COOLS THE DIGESTION  - Not just used as a vegetable, Celery Leaf is known as a cooling herb and calms the digestive system. This makes it a great go-to for those experiencing a lot of heat and reflux.

2) SUPER SOUP - Celery leaf helps thicken and enrich flavor in soups and stews as well as bringing vital vitamins into the broth.

3) FLAVOR  - It's rich, celery flavor is a wonderful addition to your favorite recipes.  You may find that you need a bit less of this celery because it's flavor is more condensed.

How to Grow It

Here's how to grow celery leaf:

SUN SUN TO PART SHADE IN HOTTER CLIMATES
MOISTURE KEEP MOIST, WATER LOVING
GROWING ZONES USDA ZONES 5-11  (Not sure? Find your growing zone here)
SIZE  1 FOOT TALL & 6 INCHES WIDE
GROWING FROM SEED

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date, typically March through April. Plant ¼’’ deep in good quality soil. Keep moist. Germ 14-21 days. Transplant when 3’’ tall at 6-8’’ spacing. Keep weeded. Prefer cooler temperatures. Mulch will help hold moisture in and keep the roots cooler, but watch to for slugs and other tender loving pests that will eat young stalks and leaves. In hotter climates plant in a spot with afternoon shade.

How to Harvest & Use It

You can continue to harvest your cutting celery throughout the season.  Harvest from the outside towards the inside.  We trim 3/4 of the stalk and allow it to regrow.  It's super easy to have a patch of cutting celery in no time! We find that it is often perennial for 2-3 seasons, but then easily reseeds itself.

Stronger than a traditional celery a little goes a long way!
