We’re so excited to introduce you to the remarkable Purple Ease potato, the solution to our long-standing quest for a perennial potato. This extraordinary variety not only regrows each year but also offers the convenience of underground storage, allowing you to harvest fresh tubers as needed. Its deep purple hue is not just for show; it's a sign of a rich concentration of phytonutrients, making it a healthier choice than many other potato varieties. (Solanum tuberosum)

Why We Love It

Here are some of the reasons why we love the Purple Ease Potato...

1) NUTRIENT-RICH TUBERS - The vibrant purple color of these potatoes is more than visually appealing—it signifies a bounty of phytonutrients, which are beneficial compounds that can support overall health.

2) ADAPTATION THROUGH TRUE SEED - Purple Ease potatoes produce true seeds, allowing them to self-sow and naturally adapt over time to the unique conditions of your garden, enhancing their vigor and yield.

3) EFFORTLESS CULTIVATION - These potatoes simplify the growing process. Leave a few in the ground after the season ends, and they'll re-emerge the following year, ready to produce a new crop with minimal intervention.

How to Grow It

Here's how to grow Purple Ease Potatoes:

SUN FULL SUN
MOISTURE AVERAGE TO LOW WATER
GROWING ZONES PERENNIAL OUTDOORS ZONES 4-9
SIZE  LARGE, INDETERMINATE VINES SO SPACE AT LEAST A FOOT APART.
PRO TIP

One of the huge advantages of this potato is that it reliably makes fertile seeds. This means that the genetics can slowly shift to meet the demands of your unique garden when you let it go to seed. This is a huge advantage to growing healthy plants.

How to Harvest & Use It

These potatoes are different from those that might be left in the ground by mistake. They can tolerate severe frost because they tend to dry down during winter, which prevents their cell walls from bursting if they freeze. They have been selectively bred to survive outdoors through the winter.

In the first year, you will be able to start harvesting new potatoes in early summer. Wait until the vines die down to dig up your main harvests. Make sure to leave a few potatoes in the ground to continue to grow for you. We like to replant our biggest tubers.
